Martha Santana-Chin Earns Prestigious Award by the Los Angeles Business Journal
Date: 09/01/21
Every year, the Los Angeles Business Journal (LABJ) recognizes a group of outstanding healthcare leaders for their extraordinary work in ensuring equal access to quality healthcare services across the greater Los Angeles region. This year, LABJ recognized Health Net Medi-Cal President, Martha Santana-Chin, as the 2021 "Insurance Executive of the Year".
As a leader in the health care sector for many years, Santana-Chin received this award for her many accomplishments throughout the pandemic. Most recently, Santana-Chin assembled a team to deploy a comprehensive response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has disproportionally affected the underserved communities of Los Angeles County.
From accelerating $134 million in telehealth grants to Medi-Cal providers, to granting more than $2 million to community clinics and community based organizations for COVID-19 response efforts, and leading a team to vaccinate more than 9,800 residents at 100 mobile clinics, Santana-Chin's strategic vision to broaden access to care during the pandemic helped the community's most vulnerable residents.
"It's an honor to be recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal and to share this recognition with so many of my peers for their continued work and dedication during the pandemic," said Santana-Chin. "I am incredibly proud of Health Net's work to date, but as our state continues to face the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there is still much work to be done. Our team at Health Net remains committed to helping our members access high-quality care and services throughout the pandemic and beyond."
Health Net was founded more than 40 years ago in California and is one of the state's longest-serving and most experienced Medi-Cal partners. Today, two-thirds of the company's 3 million members are Medi-Cal enrollees. To learn more, visit Bridging the Divide.
