Californians 50 and Older, Regardless of Immigration Status, Can Sign-up for Medi-Cal Benefits

Date: 05/20/22

Health Net has expanded its Medi-Cal benefits to all Californians who are age 50 and older regardless of immigration status. This is following a new state law that included and opened benefits for undocumented recipients age 50+. After serving the state's most vulnerable residents for more than 40 years, we are proud to extend our coverage and serve even more Californians.

If you're currently a Medi-Cal member, it's important that your county of residence has your most up-to-date contact information. Members should report all updates to their local county office either online (CoveredCA.com or BenefitsCal.com), in person or by phone, e-mail or fax. This includes changes to phone numbers, e-mail addresses, or home addresses. Reporting updates ensures members won't miss important information about their Medi-Cal coverage.

Health Net is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of our members and the communities we serve. We get you covered with Medi-Cal. Californians 50+ may now be eligible for free or low-cost health benefits, including but not limited to:

  • Emergency services
  • Doctor visits/outpatient services
  • Mental health services
  • Preventative and wellness services
  • Lab exams and blood tests
  • Prescription drugs
  • In-home care and long-term support
  • Physical therapy/equipment

Our expansion of Medi-Cal benefits is just one way we are working to achieve that goal. To learn about eligibility, benefits and more, download our Medi-Cal 101 Brochure.

Medi-Cal enrollment is available year-round. Applying for Medi-Cal does not disrupt or change immigration status or citizenship status. Health Net also does not ask for or report immigration status.

If you would like to enroll, contact the Health Net Medi-Cal Enrollment Services toll free at 800-327-0502 (TTY:711). Assistance is available Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (PT).
