All SOQ registrants and guests are invited to join Health Net in a social responsibility project on Sunday, immediately following our morning General Session. We have a memorable and rewarding opportunity planned for you and some very special low-income children from our local communities.
Working hand in hand with our naturalists, volunteers and children you will learn about the indigenous plants and wildlife on Terranea’s ground while restoring the unique habitat that makes up Terranea's Discovery Trail. Our cleanup effort will lead to a special beach stop, "SOQ Arts & Crafts for Children and Adults." Volunteers will help our children make a unique sea craft to take home as a special memento of their afternoon at the beach with us.
The afternoon will culminate with a unique release of some Sea Lions back into the ocean thanks to the sponsored rehabilitation efforts provided on behalf of Health Net and our volunteers to the Marine Mammal Care Center. Volunteers will have a behind the scenes opportunity to work with the Rescue team while they examine, feed and help recovering Sea Lions and other Marine Wildlife. The rehabilitation and rescue team from the Marine Mammal Care Center will partner with Terranea to release Sea Lions back into the ocean from the Terranea beach cove.
Entertainment and lunch will be provided by Health Net to all participants. A special thank you gift will be given to all SOQ children participating in this activity. This is one opportunity that will warm your heart — and, that you won’t want to miss! (Approximately 10:45 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.)
