5 Tips for Getting Care Fast with Your UC Blue & Gold HMO

5 Tips for Getting Care Fast with Your UC Blue & Gold HMO

  1. Always carry your ID card
Your ID card gives you access to medical care; make sure to carry it with you. The name of your UC Blue & Gold HMO network primary care physician (called a PCP) is listed on your ID card.
  2. Call your PCP when you need care
Your PCP provides and coordinates your medical care. If you need specialty care or other services, contact your PCP first.

Your PCP can refer you to a specialist in your medical group. Plus, in 2017 you have more choices for specialty care if your UC Blue & Gold HMO PCP is in the Canopy Health alliance.

Bonus tip: Make sure to check that any doctor you see is in the UC Blue & Gold HMO network, as your health plan does not pay for most services you receive from out-of-network doctors.
  3. Call for advice
Our Nurse Advice Line gives you 24-hour access to nurses for everyday health issues and questions. Call 1-800-893-5597 anytime, day or night!
  4. Connect with a doctor via your smartphone, tablet or computer
UC Blue & Gold HMO members can also use Teladoc for an urgent care consultation for a $0 copayment!
  5. Consider urgent care vs. the emergency room
Choosing urgent care instead of the emergency room can help you wait less, pay a lower copayment and get the care you need for non-life-threatening situations. Find a UC Blue & Gold HMO urgent care provider near you using ProviderSearch.

In an emergency, always call 911 immediately or go to the nearest ER.

The care you need when you need it. Blue & Gold has you covered.
