Health Net Plans
Health Maintenance Organization (HMO)
With an HMO, you select your Primary Care Physician from our HMO network. Your Primary Care Physician oversees all your health care and provides the referral/authorization if specialty care is needed.
ELECT Open Access
This plan is similar to an HMO in that members choose a Primary Care Provider. However, the "open access" feature allows members to self-refer to any specialist in the member's contracted physician network for examinations and evaluations.
Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)
Health Net's PPO is a network of more than 44,000 physicians statewide. You may select any physician at any time from our network, or you can see physicians outside the PPO network for a higher cost.
Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO)
Health Net's EPO is similar to an HMO plan, but allows members to choose from a list of contracted physicians rather than select one Primary Care Physician. Care received from a physician or other health care provider not contracted with Health Net is not covered.
Health Net also has a "Primary EPO" plan that allows members in a select geographic area to select a Primary Care Provider from an EPO network in that region.
Point of Service (POS) plans
Among the most flexible health plans with a broad range of copayments and deductibles. The member has three options for receiving care: select a Primary Care Physician from the network like an HMO, visit any in-network physician like a PPO or go to any out-of-network doctor.
Flex Net (Managed Indemnity)
A managed indemnity plan combines both traditional fee-for-services coverage and managed care. Patients pay a set percentage of the doctor's or other provider's allowable fee for each service performed, plus there are review processes so that expenditures and utilization can be managed efficiently.
Salud con Health Net
The Salud con Health Net family of products and services includes a variety of health plans and services, such as a Spanish-language website, to meet the needs of Latino members in the U.S. and Mexico.
